The concept is simple, the assignment is tough, the results are astounding. Each Chef will receive a special basket of local County ingredients curated by Local Tastes Managing Editor Cynthia Peters and a selection of County wines produced by Harwood Estate Vineyard & Winery. He will then have 30 minutes to create a dish using all the items in the basket and pairing it to one of the wines. Enjoy this exercise of culinary creativity in real time with a surprise MC and judges Cynthia Peters (Managing Editor of Local Tastes Magazine (sponsor), and owner/chef From the Farm Cooking School in Prince Edward County), and Don Chow (founder, foodiePrints), and the lucky winner of this year’s contest.
Top Prince Edward County Chefs Elliot Reynolds (The Hubb at Angeline’s) and Scott Kapitan (East and Main) will challenge recent Chopped Canada winner Chef Neil Dowson (Agrarian Speakeasy) in this popular competition.
The day after TASTE community grown, experience Prince Edward County by bike! Choose a 25km, 50km, or 100km bicycle ride around lovely lake vistas, vineyards, sand dunes and great rolling scenery while enjoying the fall colours. At the finish line, you will be dealt a Cribbage hand and the best hands win prizes. Separate registration required. Visit pictonkiwanis.org for details.
